The workshop will also cover how to use biblioMagika® to prepare your data for VOSviewer and Biblioshiny, two popular tools for visualizing and analyzing bibliometric data. You will learn how to split and harmonize author names, affiliations, and country data and detect and correct missing data within the dataset. About Facilitator
Ts. Dr. Aidi Ahmi is an associate professor at the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He obtained his PhD. in Information Systems and Computing from Brunel University London, United Kingdom. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He has been recognised as Professional Technologist (Ts.) by the Malaysia Board of Technologies (MBOT). He is also a lifetime member of the Malaysian Accounting Association (MyAA) and Internet Society (ISOC) Malaysia. Now he is actively sharing his knowledge of bibliometric analysis through workshops and training organised by higher learning institutions, associations, and training institutions. He has published two books on bibliometrics, entitled “Bibliometric Analysis for Beginners” and “Bibliometric Analysis using R for Non-Coders”. He has also actively published several articles on bibliometric studies in high-impact journals. To date, he has authored over 100 journal article publications and successfully supervised eight PhD graduates in the fields of accounting, information systems, auditing, and information and communication technology. He is also active in consulting projects. Currently, he is involved with the Citation & Infometric Division, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, for the Bibliometric Project on the Performance of Malaysian Scholarly Outputs 2017-2021. PART 1: IDENTIFYING THE TOPIC AND GETTING THE DATASET (3 hours)
An Introduction to Bibliometric Analysis
Overview of bibliometric concepts, techniques, and applications
Identifying the Topic and Scope of the Study
Identifying the topic for bibliometric study
Setting the scope, aim and objectives of the study
Designing the research questions (RQs)
Planning the strategy to answer the research questions
Getting a Dataset
Defining the keywords related to the topic of the study
Designing the search query
Screening and cleaning the results
Downloading the dataset
Drafting the procedure for data collection
PART 2: CLEANING AND HARMONISING THE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DATA (4 hours)
Accessing the data quality
Investigating the issue of bibliographical data downloaded from Scopus
Checking for any missing values, duplicates, or inconsistent data formats
Normalising the dataset to ensure consistency and standardised representation
Splitting a multivalued column into multiple rows
Cleaning and harmonising the data
Joining multiple rows that have been split before
Merging any duplicate records and/or removing duplicates from the dataset
Enriching the data by adding additional information or variables from external sources to enhance its value
Exporting the cleaned data for further analysis
